The National Wrestling League has announced the first fixtures for its inaugural season, which will kick off in Newcastle on August 9.
Following a pre-season show in Middlesborough in June, the League will officially begin at the Newcastle event. 3 singles matches and 2 tag team matches have been announced for the show. Two of the matches will see the London Executioners face the Manchester Manics, and another 2 will see the Northeast Outlaws face the Midlands Destroyers. The 5th match will see the Yorkshire Titans face the Glasgow Hitmen.
Similar to a football match, the bouts will take place over 2 halves, each lasting 7 and a half minutes. Whoever scores the most falls during the time period will win the match and earn 3 points for their team in the league. Whichever team scores the most league points at the end of the season will be the champions, and the team at the bottom will be relegated from the league. A new team is set to be added for the second season.
When a wrestler pins or submits their opponent, they will score a point for their team. If the wrestler is counted out or DQ’d, the other team scores a fall. Yellow and red cards will also come into play for various offences.
The shows are set to air on demand at a later date, with a highlights show also in the works.
