WWE SmackDown Preview 1/4/22

The April 1st edition of Friday Night SmackDown will be the final episode of main roster television before WrestleMania 38, and will air live from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

The show is being promoted as “WrestleMania SmackDown” with matches traditionally taking place at WrestleMania taking place on SmackDown instead. As announced on the March 27th broadcast, The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal will be taking place on SmackDown. The battle royal will feature Raw stars such as Damian Priest and the United States Champion Finn Balor competing.

A title match has also been announced for the show. Intercontinental Champion Ricochet will be defending the title in a triple threat match against Humberto and Angel on WrestleMania SmackDown.

The following matches and segments have been announced for WrestleMania SmackDown:

  • The final build to WrestleMania.
  • Ricochet (c) vs. Angel vs. Humberto – Triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship.
  • Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss to host “Happy Talk” with Drew McIntyre’s sword Angela as the special guest.
  • The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal – The entrants are as follows:

  • Erik and Ivar of the Viking Raiders
  • Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin of The Hurt Business
  • United States Champion Finn Balor

The WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place immediately following SmackDown. The following names are the inductees in the 2022 Hall of Fame class:
