Vader will be inducted into the 2022 WWE Hall of Fame class. The news was announced by WWE on March 7th 2022.
Vader, real name Leon White, has had a decorated career in professional wrestling all over the world. Vader had a very successful career in New Japan Pro Wrestling, capturing the IWGP Heavyweight Championship 3 times while competing for the promotion. Big Van Vader would then go on to compete for WCW, where he would capture a further 3 top titles for the promotion along with a single run with the United States Championship.
Vader would wrestle in WWF full time from his debut in 1996 up until the departure that took place in late 1998. Despite feuding with top names in WWF such as The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, who was the WWF Champion at the time, The Mastodon never captured a championship in his run in WWF. Following the departure, Vader would mainly wrestle for Japanese promotions until his retirement, while occasionally making sporadic appearances for WWE. Leon White sadly passed away on June 18 2018 aged 63 years old.
At the time, Vader was one of the most agile wrestlers for a man of his size. Despite weighing over 400lbs, Vader would frequently use a moonsault as part of his move set during matches.
Vader now joins The Undertaker as one of the entrants into the 2022 WWE Hall of Fame class.
