Shad Gaspard will be posthumously given the 2022 Warrior Award at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on April 1st 2022.
The news of the Warrior Award recipient was announced on WWE.com on March 25th, along with the criteria for being a candidate for this honour:
Named after WWE Hall of Famer The Ultimate Warrior, The Warrior Award is presented to an individual who has exhibited unwavering strength and perseverance and who lives life with the courage and compassion that embodies the indomitable spirit of The Ultimate Warrior.
Shad Gaspard tragically passed away on May 17th 2020 aged 39 years old. The former WWE star was swimming with his son in Venice Beach, California, when they were both caught up in a strong current. In the ultimate act of love, Shad Gaspard would instruct the lifeguards to save his son first before disappearing underwater. The passing was confirmed a few days after the unfortunate events took place.
Shad Gaspard was best known in WWE for his time in tag team Cryme Tyme with partner JTG from 2006 to 2010. While the team never won any tag team championships during their WWE tenure, the duo were a popular act among the WWE Universe.
Shad Gaspard joins The Undertaker, Vader and Sharmell as the current class of the 2022 WWE Hall of Fame.
