Bobby Lashley will face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble. In the main event of the January 3rd Raw, Lashley defeated Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Big E in a Fatal 4-Way match to earn the opportunity on January 29th.
In a repeat of the match at Day 1, Rollins and Owens teamed up to try and take out Lashley and Big E, which included Lashley crashing through a barricade and Big E being slammed through the announce table. As the match had no count outs, the match took place all over the arena and into the concourse. The match would end with Lashley hitting a spear onto Owens to become the new number one contender.
The Fatal 4-Way match was originally supposed to take place at the Day 1 pay-per-view on January 1st. However, due to Roman Reigns testing positive for COVID-19, the Universal Championship match between Reigns and Brock Lesnar did not take place. Instead, Lesnar was added to the WWE Championship match, which became a Fatal 5-Way. Lesnar would pin Big E to become a 6 time WWE Champion.
