WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night 1 Preview

WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night 1 Preview

With 3 title matches and more set to take place on WWE SummerSlam 2025 night 1, the company will be looking to start off strong in what will be the first of a new normal for the long-running Premium Live Event.

Set to air live from MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, this will be the first 2-night SummerSlam in the near 40-year history of the event. The main event of the show will see Gunther defend his World Heavyweight Championship against CM Punk in their first televised encounter. Punk stated on the go-home show that winning the championship is his addiction, and he will once again prove that he is the Best in the World. For Gunther, The Ring General is looking to embarrass the veteran and prove that he still is the number one star on the red brand.

After winning the Queen of the Ring tournament earlier in the year, Jade Cargill will receive her opportunity at the Women’s Championship as she will take on Tiffany Stratton. With no threat of a cash-in from Naomi, Cargill has the opportunity to have a fair fight against Stratton and potentially become Women’s Champion for the first time in her WWE career.

The final title match on night one will see The Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez put their titles on the line against the unlikely duo of Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. While the two former champions were reluctant to team together at first, a friendship has formed between the two.

In what will be his return match since WrestleMania, Roman Reigns will also be in action as he will team with Jey Uso to take on Bronsn Reed and Bron Breakker.

WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night 1 Match Card:

  • Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez (c) vs. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss – Tag team match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships

WWE SummerSlam will air live on August 2 on Peacock in the United States and on Netflix internationally.
