Another John Cena appearance, King and Queen of the Ring tournament matches continued and more took place on the June 13 WWE SmackDown.
Continuing the fallout from Money in the Bank, which saw R-Truth cost Cena the main event, the Undisputed Champion appeared live once more to continue his retirement tour and his mission to ruin wrestling. Cena also spoke about his upcoming defence against CM Punk, which will take place at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, the remaining first-round matches in the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments took place as four 4-way matches took place on the show, with top stars including Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton in action.
Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett were on commentary for the show.
WWE SmackDown Results June 13
- After a video package recapped Money in the Bank, John Cena appeared live. Cena spoke about his retirement tour and how he strategised before being interrupted by Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare reminded Cena that he pinned the champion at Money in the Bank before being interrupted by Randy Orton, who vowed to win King of the Ring and get another opportunity at Cena’s title. LA Knight interrupted and Cena left the ring. As Cena made his way up the ramp, he was attacked by Ron Killings.
- Randy Orton defeated LA Knight, Carmelo Hayes and Aleister Black to advance in the King of the Ring tournament.
- Jacob Fatu explained his actions from Money in the Bank, which saw him finally betray Solo Sikoa. Sikoa interrupted and said he would forgive Fatu if he said “I love you Solo” next week.
- Jade Cargill defeated Piper Niven, Nia Jax and Michin to advance in the Queen of the Ring tournament.
- Naomi spoke about winning Money in the Bank and issued a warning to Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. As Naomi was about to leave, Stratton was attacked by Nia Jax.
- The Wyatt Sicks defeated Motor City Machine Guns
- An irate Cena called out Ron Killings, but got CM Punk instead. Killings attacked Cena as Punk mocked him.
- Alexa Bliss defeated Charlotte Flair, Alba Fyre and Candice LeRae to advance in the Queen of the Ring tournament.
- Cody Rhodes defeated Andrade, Damian Priest and Shinsuke Nakamura to advance in the King of the Ring tournament.
Also on June 13th, a WWE NXT live event took place in Lakeland, Florida.
