The final build to the Royal Rumble, a title match and more took place on WWE SmackDown.
The January 26th broadcast hyped up the Royal Rumble by announcing new entrants for each respective Rumble match. Additionally, new champions were crowned and multiple NXT stars made their main roster debuts.
Michael Cole joined Corey Graves to announce the show as it had been reported earlier in the week that Kevin Patrick had been released from the company.
The Following Results Took Place On WWE SmackDown:
- Latin Grammy Award winning artist Eladio Carrión opened the show and introduced Randy Orton. The Viper declared that he would become a 15-time World Champion at the Royal Rumble. AJ Styles interrupted followed by LA Knight. Styles stood tall to end the segment
- Santos Escobar defeated Carlito. NXT’s Elektra Lopez debuted to attack Zelina Vega
- Asuka and Kairi Sane defeated Katana Chance and Kayden Carter to become the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions
- Ava met with Nick Aldis backstage, confirming that NXT would also be a part of the Royal Rumble
- Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits met face to face with The Final Testament
- Austin Theory defeated Carmelo Hayes. Trick Williams saved Hayes from a post-match beatdown.
- LA Knight vs. Solo Sikoa ended in a no contest thanks to interference from AJ Styles and Randy Orton
