The internal reaction from WWE has been a mixture of “relief and happiness” following the news of Vince McMahon’s departure.
On January 27th, Vince McMahon announced that he would be resigning from WWE effective immediately following a lawsuit that details horrifying allegations directed at the former WWE Chairman. While McMahon would deny the allegations following the lawsuit coming to light and in his resignation statement, it is believed that major sponsor Slim Jim pausing their sponsorship would lead to a domino effect of more sponsors pulling out and there would be no other choice. However, as reported by PWInsider, the resignation took place much quicker than expected, with one source noting that it would only be a matter of time.
Others have stated that there is a positive feeling that McMahon has left the company as he was a “black cloud” that was hanging over WWE despite not having any creative input.
WWE Looks To “Sweep Out” Vince McMahon Allies
With the news of McMahon’s resignation being overwhelmingly well received by fans and those within the company, many are curious as to what will happen next. The belief internally is that WWE owners Endeavor are looking for a “fresh start” and plan to remove anyone closely associated with McMahon, including those who voted him back in the company at the start of 2023. The report concludes by stating that McMahon has nowhere near the power he did when he left the first time as he is no longer the majority shareholder. There is no way that McMahon can return on his own.
