A heavily rumoured return may take place on the September 5 edition of WWE SmackDown as the fallout from Clash in Paris continues.
CM Punk did not have the trip to France that he had hoped for as he failed to win the World Heavyweight Championship thanks to interference from Becky Lynch and was bertaed by The Man the following night on Raw. With Punk walking away from Lynch, the former World Champion noted that SmackDown would be in his hometown of Chicago, and effectively confirmed that he would be there. With rumours hotting up more than ever that AJ Lee could be on her way back to the company after a decade away from the ring, fans are speculating that the 3-time Divas Champion will be appearing on the show.
Also at Clash in Paris, John Cena won his final match in Europe as he defeated Logan Paul on the show. Cena is set to appear live on SmackDown in what will be the latest stop on his retirement tour. As Cena was attacked by Brock Lesnar back at SummerSlam, it is expcted that the 17-time World Champion will reference the attack and lay down the challenge to face Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza on September 20.
