The final show before Backlash, a title match and more are set for the May 8 edition of WWE SmackDown.
Now a champion once more in WWE, Tiffany Stratton defeated Giulia to capture the Women’s United States Championship 2 weeks ago. Although Kiana James demanded that Stratton give Giulia a rematch, the champion instead offered up the opportunity to James. The title match is set for SmackDown.
Fatal Influence has targeted the women’s division following their call-up to the main roster. With Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley and Alexa Bliss crossing paths with the group, former rivals Flair and Ripley will join forces to try and solve the Fatal Influence problem.
On the May 1 SmackDown, Gunther made his return to TV by attacking WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. Looking to win the top prize in the company, The Ring General is scheduled to appear live on the blue brand to address what’s next.
With this being the final show before Backlash, the build to the upcoming PLE will be the main focus of the show. The top SmackDown match announced for Backlash will see Trick Williams put his US Championship on the line against Sami Zayn.
