WWE SmackDown Preview May 16

A new number one contender will be determined and more will take place on WWE SmackDown.

The fallout from Backlash and more is set to take place on WWE SmackDown.

At Backlash, John Cena defended the Undisputed Championship against Randy Orton and Jacob Fatu defended the United States Championship thanks to an assist from the debuting Jeff Cobb. While ot announced, it is expected that Orton will appear live to address his loss and Cobb’s debut will also be discussed.

The next Premium Live Event set to take place will be Money in the Bank on June 7th. In an update from Nick Aldis, qualifying matches will take place on the show.

It should also be noted that Cody Rhodes is advertised to appear according to the SmackDown event page. However, as WWE has not referenced this on TV, there is the possibility that Rhodes will not make his return appearance on this show. Rhodes was last seen at WrestleMania 41, losing the Undisputed Championship to John Cena.

  • Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Nia Jax – Singles match for the WWE Women’s Championship
