A huge title match, King and Queen of the Ring semifinals and more are set for the June 19 WWE SmackDown.
Following a controversial loss at Clash in Italy, Gunther has been granted another opportunity at Cody Rhodes’ WWE Championship. However, as Gunther blames the WWE referee for his loss, The Ring General has taken matters into his own hands. Looking to find someone who will give him a better opportunity of securing victory, Guther has selected Sami Zayn to be the guest referee. As Zayn and Rhodes have been at odds over the past few weeks, it is unknown if Zayn will be impartial.
On the June 12 SmackDown, Charlotte Flair advanced to the Queen of the Ring semifinals. Flair will face Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in the next round. Whoever is the victor will advance to Night of Champions and will face IYO SKY in the final. Additionally, Ricky Saints and Carmelo Hayes will face off to see who will be next in line to take on United States Champion Trick Williams. Whoever is the victor will face Williams at Night of Champions.
This will also be the final live SmackDown for the next couple of weeks. The go-home show for Night of Champions will be filmed in London on Tuesday, June 23. Meanwhile, the July 3 taping will be recorded on June 29 to give staff and talent time off for the July 4 weekend.
