Gunther revealed the stipulation for his WWE title rematch and more on the June 12 episode of SmackDown.
Following a controversial loss at Clash in Italy, Gunther demanded one more opportunity at Cody Rhodes and the WWE title. The American Nightmare granted the request, but Gunther said there would be an additional stipulation. The Ring General revealed his terms on the show.
Additionally, the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments continued.
The show aired live from Providence, Rhode Island, marking a return to the United States for the blue rband. Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett were on commentary for the show.
WWE SmackDown Results June 12:
- Following a recap of last week, Cody Rhodes was seen arriving at the venue. Rhodes met with The Usos. Jey Uso promised to win King of the Ring and come after the WWE Title, stating it was just business. Rhodes said that Jey deserves it, but hopes that Jey makes that decision, not Roman Reigns.
- Jade Cargill was interviewed ahead of her Queen of the Ring qualifier match. Cargill said that she would be coming for Rhea Ripley when she won.
- Charlotte Flair defeated Jade Cargill, Sol Ruca and Lyra Valkyria to advance in the Queen of the Ring tournament.
- Michin and B-Fab attempted to attack Tiffany Stratton, but Chelsea Green chased them away.
- Nick Aldis found Gunther. Gunther said that he couldn’t trust corrupt WWE officials, so would be choosing his own for the match.
- Paige and Brie Bella defeated Fatal Influence.
- Danhausen was in his lab as Los Garza begged him to uncurse the San Antonio Spurs ahead of the NBA Finals Tomorrow. Next, Kit Wilson asked Danhausen to revert The Miz, who has been left in a state of reciting his catchphrases endlessly. Wilson tried to shut down Danhausen’s experiments, but got shocked for his troubles. Danhausen casually walked off, leaving a charred Wilson knocked out.
- Sami Zay said that he was looking to clear the air with Cody Rhodes. The WWE Champion made his way to the ring. Both spoke about their history and the past few weeks. Rhodes said the fans have started to turn on Zayn as he has become whiny and desperate as of late. Both men slapped each other.
- Jacob Fatu told Solo Sikoa that Roman Reigns wants him to come home. Sikoa refused, saying that he was embarrassed by what Fatu had become. Sikoa said that if Reigns wants him to come home, he can do it himself.
- Rey Fenix defeated Axiom to defend the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.
- Gunther revealed that his special guest referee for next week would be Sami Zayn.
- Trick Williams appeared live and spoke about his King of the Ring loss. Both Carmelo Hayes and Ricky Saints interrupted, wanting to know who the number one contender is. Both men bickered and a brawl ensued until Williams attacked both men.
- Michin and B-Fab defeated Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton.
- Jey Uso defeated Royce Keys, LA Knight and Finn Balor to advance in King of the Ring. Uso will face Je’Von Evans next week.
