The go-home show for Backlash, a “debut” and more took place on the May 4 WWE Raw.
The main event of Backlash will see Roman Reigns put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Jacob Fatu. Both men appeared live for their final confrontation ahead of the title match on Saturday.
Additionally, IYO SKY and Asuka met face to face before their Backlash match, Oba Femi hosted an open challenge, and “The Original” El Grande Americano introduced his latest allies.
Michael Cole and Corey Graves were on commentary. Alicia Taylor was the ring announcer.
WWE Raw Results May 4:
- The opening of the show saw Roman Reigns arriving. Adam Pearce informed Reigns that Jacob Fatu was not in the building, leading to Seth Rollins walking past Reigns to make his entrance. Bron Breakker attacked Rollins as he made his entrance. Security tried to break things up, but Breakker assaulted security. Breakker exited the ring but then ran back in to spear Rollins.
- JD McDonagh defeated Finn Balor thanks to interference from The Judgment Day.
- Ethan Page and Rusev defeated Penta and Je’Von Evans. Page pinned the Intercontinental Champion.
- Sol Ruca was set to sign her WWE Raw contract, but was interrupted by Becky Lynch. Ruca called Lynch a “big-headed bitch,” and hit Lynch with a Sol Snatcher to stand tall.
- Jacob Fatu arrived but The Usos warned him about the contract signing.
- Joe Hendry vs. Austin Theory ended in DQ when Logan Paul interfered. The Street Profits arrived for the save, but Bron Breakker took them out. Seth Rollins was also involved in the melee.
- Oba Femi defeated Otis.
- “The Original” El GRande Americano introduced his newest allies Los Americanos Hermanos, who are The Creed Brothers in masks. The trio defeated American, Rayo and Bravo.
- Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu had their contract signing. Reigns spoke about being disrespected the previous week. Fatu reiterated his motivations, and took out Reigns with a Tongan death grip to stand tall.
