WWE Queen Of The Ring Tournament Affected By Another Injury

Unfortunately, injuries in the WWE Queen of the Ring tournament have continued.

On May 12th, Shayna Bazler was originally set to face off against 2021 tournament winner Zelina Vega at a live event in a first-round match-up. Unfortunately, injuries have forced some last-minute changes once more.

As announced by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce on social media, Vega is injured and has been pulled from the tournament. As a result of this, Maxxine Dupri has been announced as the replacement and will take on Shayna Baszler at the house show.

“Zelina Vega will not be medically cleared to compete tonight and therefore will be stepping out of the Queen of the Ring tournament, which is unfortunate given her past history as a Queen of the Ring, it would have been nice to see her try to regain that crown but (the) injury bug strikes again, which opens the door to opportunity for one Maxxine Dupri, who will receive the biggest opportunity of her young career as she will step in tonight against Shayna Baszler,”

It is currently unknown the nature of Zelina Vega’s injury or how long she will be absent.

WWE Queen Of The Ring Tournament Injuries Continue

At WWE Backlash, 4 first-round matches for the Raw side of the tournament were announced. On the May 6th Raw Dakota Kai made the announcement that Asuka, who was one of the participants announced at the PLE, was injured and unable to compete. Asuka was replaced by Kai, who lost her first-round match to Lyra Valkyria.

The King of the Ring Tournament has also been affected by injuries, with Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley pulled from the tournament at short notice.

Features of Wrestling would like to wish Zelina Vega a full and speedy recovery.
