Eight years on from their last one-on-one match, Seth Rollins is hoping that he can run things back against John Cena for a specific reason.
The Hollywood star and Undisputed Champion is in the middle of his year-long retirement run. With Cena promising that there will be no more matches when 2025 comes to a close, there are only a limited number of opportunities left to get in the ring with the 17-time World Champion.
Although Rollins and Cena last faced off in a singles match on Raw back in 2016, they famously feuded in 2015 when Rollins was the WWE Champion. Along with a match at SummerSlam that saw Rollins defeat Cena and win the United States Championship thanks to Jon Stewart interference, their bout on Raw also gained notoriety for the wrong reasons.
On the July 27th 2015 episode of Raw, Rollins broke Cena’s nose after delivering a knee strike. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Rollins stated that he would love another opportunity to do it again:
“I hope so. I hope so. John and I teamed a couple of years ago in India at a random show, a wonderful show there. I teamed with him and it was one of the wildest experiences I’ve ever had in a ring. I would love to face off with him one more time and get another chance to break his big old nose. This knee is coming for you, John. I’d love to get one in before he hangs it up.”
Seth Rollins Looking To Repeat History
The Visionary will be part of the Money in the Bank ladder match on June 7th. Having previously found success at the event back in 2014, Rollins went on to cash in the briefcase at WrestleMania 31 to become the new WWE Champion.
Cena will also be in action at the Premium Live Event as he will team with Logan Paul to take on Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes.
H/t to Fightful.
