More information has been provided on R-Truth leaving WWE and where fans may see the popular pro wrestler turn up next.
June 1st saw R-Truth shock the world when he made the announcement that he had been released by WWE, which was later clarified to be a contract expiration. With the former Tag Team Champion being one of the most popular wrestlers among fans and the locker room, the reaction and backlash was unlike anything seen when compared to previous exits. Additionally, loud “We want Truth” chants were heard on Raw and NXT, and are likely to be heard again on the June 6th episode of SmackDown.
As reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the decision to let Truth go was financial:
“Essentially in his case it was a financial decision by the company, in the sense his last contract was so high that for the level they were using him they felt it made no sense.”
Where Will R-Truth Appear Next?
While nothing has been confirmed at the time of writing, fans are hoping to see Truth remain a part of wrestling given how entertaining he has been over the past few years. Also in the Observer Newsletter, Meltzer added that TNA are very interested in having Truth make his return:
“Those in TNA have already said that they want to make him an offer, and for that company, he’ll come in fairly hot.”
After leaving WWE in 2001, the former K-Kwik appeared in TNA under his real name of Ron Killings. During his time in the promotion, Truth captured the NWA World Heavyweight Championship twice and also found success in the tag team division.
