Britt Baker has provided an update.
The former Women’s Champion was originally set to face Willow Nightingale on the October 8th episode of AEW Dynamite with the winner advancing to WrestleDream to challenge Mariah May for the Women’s Championship. However, hours before the show, fans were informed that Baker was not cleared to compete due to illness and would miss the taping.
In an update on social media, Baker thanked the fans and let them know that she was dealing with strep throat. In more positive news, Baker also let the fans know that she is ok and on the road to recovery. Baker also implored anyone in an area affected by a hurricane to stock up as she had not planned ahead due to assuming she would be in Washington for the taping.
Baker last competed on the 5th anniversary special episode of AEW Dynamite, defeating Serena Deeb in her return match.
Replacement Match Took Place On AEW Dynamite Due To Britt Baker Absence
With Baker not cleared to compete, a 4-way match was booked instead between Willow Nightingale, Saraya, Jamie Hayter and Nyla Rose. The match was won by Nightingale, who will advance to WrestleDreamto receive a shot at the women’s title.
