Upcoming WWE SmackDown To Be Pre-Taped Ahead Of Time

A new number one contender will be determined and more will take place on WWE SmackDown.

A future episode of WWE SmackDown will be taped in advance to ensure that the roster and crew are given a break.

One of the more positive changes that has occurred since WWE became a property of TKO is that talent are given more time off between shows as the schedule has been stripped back greatly. On top of house shows being reduced, double tapings around the holidays have also become the norm with most shows taking place around Thanksgiving and Christmas being filmed ahead of time so that those who work for the company can spend time with their families.

As seen on WWE’s event listing page, there is no SmackDown scheduled to take place on Friday, July 4th, which is a national holiday in the United States. When asked about a possible taping on Sportskeeda’s Q&A podcast, WrestleVotes noted that although there is nothing stopping the show from airing live, it will be pre-taped:

“Nothing schedule-wise that would prevent it, but it does seem like it’s going to be a pre-taped show. No tickets on sale yet, no date, we are 5 weeks out. I would imagine becuase of the holiday they are gonna give the guys the night off and it will be taped on that Monday night.”

What Has Been Announced For The Next WWE SmackDown?

Focusing on the fallout from Saturday Night’s Main Event and continuing the build to Money in the Bank, the show will see the return of Cody Rhodes to the blue brand and more qualifying matches set to take place. The announced line-up is currently as follows:

  • Nia Jax vs. Naomi vs. Jade Cargill – Women’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Match
