Backstage Update On Decision To Have Adam Page Win AEW Double Or Nothing Main Event

More details have been provided on the surprising Adam Page victory in the main event of the AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

Competing in the final match on the show, Page faced Will Ospreay in the finals of the Owen Hart Cup. With Ospreay a firm fan favourite and with Forbidden Door set to take place in London later in the year, many had the former International Champion down as the favourite heading into the match.

However, when all was said and done in what was a match of the year contender, Page hit the Buckshot Lariat to pin Ospreay and secure his spot at All In, likely in the main event of AEW’s biggest show of the year. According to a new report, the result was kept secret and left many backstage surprised as they also expected Ospreay to emerge as the victor.

As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful SelectAEW President Tony Khan kept the result under wraps with the performers only finding out the result on the weekend of the show. It was also noted that Page pushed for Ospreay to win while Ospreay pushed for Page to win. The report adds that although Khan may take on board the requests, it is ultimately his decision as to who will win the match.

Adam Page To Address Victory And Upcoming Match

As a result of the victory, Page will challenge Jon Moxley for the World Championship on July 12th in Texas. Following the victory at Double or Nothing, Page will address the victory on the May 28th Dynamite.
