Trish Stratus recently sent a supportive message to WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green after the SmackDown star’s title reign looked to be in jeopardy.
Although Green won the championship at SummerSlam, she suffered a broken orbital bone in her first match as champion, which saw her and Tiffany Stratton lose to Fatal Influence. Confirming the injury, it appeared that Green would have to relinquish the title on the next episode of SmackDown. However, General Manager Nick Aldis had a change of heart. Instead of forfeiting the championship, Green was given 30 days to get cleared, much to the delight of the fans.
While speaking with John Pollock of POST Wrestling ahead of her First Crush appearance on August 21, the Hall of Famer was asked if any questions would be off the table. Stratus first noted that all of her segments, including the infamous bark like a dog moment, all happen for a reason. Stratus went on to say that she sent a long voice memo to Green in support, adding that Green will look back on this moment and what it will evolve into:
“I’m a very big proponent and everything happens for a reason. I feel like when a lot of the girls that have been getting injured, I just sent a voice memo to Chelsea. I was just like, it’s those moments where it’s, ‘no, there’s a reason why, or I don’t know, you can wear a face mask, it’s going to be a thing.’ There’s a reason. You’ll be like, ‘Oh sh*t, that’s kind of cool that that happened because of this.”

Both women have made WWE history in their own respective careers. Stratus held the WWE Women’s Championship 7 times, which was at one point the most in company history. Green is a former Women’s Tag Team Champion and the first-ever Women’s US Champion, along with her current reign as Interim Women’s Champion.
With Stratus being regarded as one of the greatest women’s wrestlers of all time and a fellow Canadian, Green has previously stated that Trish would be a dream match for her.
