Although he has the funds, Tony Khan will not be buying TNA Wrestling anytime soon.
With news of multiple departures and turmoil among TNA, there have been rumours that current owners Anthem may be looking to put the promotion up for sale. With WWE talent being used regularly on Impact and Premium Live Events, there have been rumours that WWE could be the buyer of TNA. If this does happen, this will be the second promotion that WWE will acquire after purchasing WWE in 2024.
Sports business analyst Blake Avignon has reported, “Anthem’s Len Asper has set a $30M floor for a potential sale of TNA, with his preferred price in the $40M – $50M range.” With this in mind, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics asked Tony Khan on the Forbidden Door media call if this was of interest.
TNA “Not The Top Priority Acquisition” For Tony Khan
When Khan asked how much TNA would be asking for, Turston responded that $40 million was the asking price. In response, Khan gave a blunt answer before adding more information:
“No,” Tony said with a laugh.
He gave more context, saying, “It has value. It would have to be the right price. The video library has a lot of great wrestlers over the years. Certainly not the top priority for me as an acquisition right now. It’s not something I’ve had any serious conversations about. Like a lot of things in life, it could be an interesting purchase if the price was right, but isn’t that true of so many things in life? There are a lot of excellent automobiles that I would love to have in my garage, but it would depend on the price. At ($40 million), no, absolutely not.”
