Tony Khan has addressed Mick Foley’s upcoming appearance at AEW Double or Nothing, along with the possibility of Foley competing in a match.
Following previous speculation that Foley could join All Elite Wrestling, his first appearance was confirmed on May 20. The Hall of Famer will join Renee Paquette at Double or Nothing on May 24 as part of the pre-show panel.
Speaking about Foley’s upcoming appearance on the AEW Double or Nothing media call, Khan stated that he is very excited to have the former World Champion be a part of the show:
“I’m very excited that Mick Foley is joining AEW, and I cannot wait to see Cactus Jack back on TBS and I am very excited to have him at Double or Nothing this Sunday as part of The Buy-In and we’re just thrilled Mick’s gonna be co-hosting the event with Renee. They’re good friends, and when I suggested this to Mick, he thought it was a great idea, and he’s really thrilled about it because we are big fans of Mick and Mick loves pro wrestling.
“I Would Love Mick Foley To Wrestle In AEW”: Tony Khan
AEW has been the promotion where many legends have been able to compete in one final match. Along with the Sting retirement at Revolution 2024, notable names in wrestling such as DDP and Jeff Jarrett have been able to have a handful of matches in the company. Additionally, it appears likely that names such as Paul Wight and Dustin Rhodes will close out their careers in the company.
With this in mind, many are hoping and expecting to see Foley compete one more time, with Foley himself naming MJF as a dream opponent. Addressing the possibility, Khan stated that he can’t speak for Fley himself, but would love to see the Hall of Famer in action:
“I can’t speak for Mick Foley as to whether he’d want to wrestle or if he’s going to wrestle anytime soon but if he ever does, I would love for him to do it in AEW. But I also don’t wanna put him in a situation in which he’ll be uncomfortable. I want him to feel good about this and I know he’s taken so many big hits and had such an amazing career with so many spectacular moments, and physically, I would ever only ask him to wrestle if he felt up to it and that he could live up to the physical demand.”
Foley severed ties with WWE earlier in the year, citing the company’s relationship with Donald Trump as the main factor. In a post on social media, Foley confirmed that he would not be making any more appearances under the WWE banner, adding that he would not be renewing his legends deal when it expires.
