WWE star Asuka has given fans an update on her future following speculation regarding her WWE and pro wrestling career.
Following her loss to IYO SKY at Backlash, the former Women’s Champion embraced her former student and rival. With both women emotional after the match, there was speculation that The Empress may be departing the company imminently.
Following the angle, Asuka was seen goodbye to SKY backstage on Raw. Follow-up reports indicated that the Raw star was heading back to Japan, and her return date was uncertain.
Speaking on her KanaChanTV YouTube channel, Asuka posted a video on May 22 titled. “An Update On What’s Ahead.” The video sees Asuka addressing the fans in Japanese, but with English subtitles.
First addressing the rumours, Asuka stated that she was dealing with a personal matter and talked it through with WWE. The Empress added that despite retirement rumours, she can very much still perform in the ring:
“I know there are a ton of rumours flying out there. People asking, “Are we going to see Asuka wrestle again?” “Is she going back to Japan?” “Is she leaving WWE?”
The truth is, it was a personal matter – I reached out to WWE and we talked it through. But let’s be clear – as you all know from my matches, I can still GO. I am still at the top of my game! I’ve been with WWE for over 10 years now, almost like it was just a given. And because it became such a part of your daily routine, I think my presence there just became something everyone took for granted. “
Continuing, the former Women’s Champion confirmed that she is still with WWE, but added that everything is finite:
“But remember, nothing lasts forever. Everything is finite. You see, I’m not just a wrestler by trade; I’m a designer too. Even the way I live my life has to be art.
I’m sure you’ll all be wondering what’s next for me, and how I’ll be involved with TV and the tours moving forward. But don’t forget – I’m still officially with WWE. So there’s a chance I might pop up in front of you when you least expect it!”
Let’s be honest, no one will ever make the kind of historic impact I made from day 1. I don’t think anyone will ever climb to the top non-stop, grabbing every title and accolade along the way – the way I did. And because I am a true pioneer, there will NEVER be another Asuka!
“It’s Going To Be Rare”: Asuka Provides Update On Future Appearances
Closing out the pro wrestling update, Asuka stated that while there will still be future appearances, they will be rare:
“So from here on out, if you ever catch a glimpse of me, you better cherish it. Because it’s going to be rare.”
Ending the video, Asuka stated that she would still be active on social media and YouTube, noting that more videos are on the way.
One of the most decorated WWE stars of the past decade, Asuka has the longest undefeated streak in company history. The Empress is a former multi-time singles and tag team champion in the women’s division, along with Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank victories.
