Kicking off its Premium Live Event calendar for 2026, TNA presented Genesis on Saturday, January 17.
Following on from the Impact on AMC premiere the previous Thursday, which saw Mike Santana win back the World Championship in the main event, Santana put the title on the line against Frankie Kazarian in a Texas Deathmatch, which saw Nic Nemeth serve as the special guest referee.
Stars from WWE NXT were also in action, as Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo put the International Championship on the line in a 4-way match on the pre-show, and Zaria challenged Léi Yǐng Lee for the Knockouts Championship. Additionally, former World Champion and current NXT star Joe Hendry returned to the promotion as he competed in a 3-way match against Cedric Alexander and Moose.
Bringing his in-ring career to an end, JDC had his retirement match at Genesis, facing Eddie Edwards at the event.
