The Judgment Day’s time as the World Tag Team Champions has come to an end on WWE Raw thanks to The War Raiders.
In the main event of the December 16th episode of Raw, Erik and Ivar defeated Finn Balor and JD McDonagh to win the Tag Team Championships in WWE for the 3rd time with 2 reigns on the main roster and 1 reign in NXT. The match saw all members of Judgment Day banned from ringside to allow a fair fight, much to the annoyance of the champions.
The closing moments of the match saw Balor attempt to utilise a steel chair but was stopped by Damian Priest. Erik and Ivar took advantage and hit the War Machine to win the match and the titles.
The victory from The War Raiders brings to an end Balor and McDonagh’s reign at 168 days. Although the reign was substantial, many criticised the booking of Balor and McDonagh as they only made 2 title defences prior to their loss to Erik and Ivar.
The War Raiders Continue Positive Momentum
Erik and Ivar recently made their return from injury on Raw and using their NXT name. The War Raiders were infamously called up to the main roster and originally known as The Viking Experience, which was heavily mocked by fans. Realising the mistake, WWE eventually settled on The Viking Raiders as a compromise.
Immediately after the show, WWE pre-taped the December 23rd Raw ahead of time.
