The Rock helped WWE kick off the new year in style.
On the Day 1 special edition of Raw, The Great One returned to WWE once again to make his intentions clear for 2024, facing off against The Tribal Chief.
Ahead of time, Triple H made the announcement on social media that a former WWE Champion would be making their return on January 1st. As ring announcer Samantha Irvin made the introduction, the San Diego crowd groaned in unison as Jinder Mahal made his introduction. As Mahal berated the crowd for showing disrespect, the electrifying music of The Rock rang through the arena.
The Rock berated Mahal and made multiple references to the late, great Iron Sheik and his role in the Baywatch movie, joking that no one saw it. When the insulting of the former WWE Champion came to a close, Mahal had clearly had enough and wanted to get payback on The Rock. The Hollywood star would fight back and deliver a People’s Elbow to stand tall.
Grabbing a microphone once more to close out the segment, The People’s Champion had one more announcement to make, he is looking to sit at the head of the table, calling out Roman Reigns.
Reigns, who was watching the show, seemed to find the challenge rather amusing:

When Did The Rock Last Appear On WWE TV?
Back in October, The Great One made his presence felt on SmackDown. As Pat McAfee first made his own surprise appearance on the Friday Night show, he was interrupted by Austin Theory. As McAfee declared that the blue brand was the people’s show, The Rock’s music hit for the first time in 4 years, much to the delight of the crowd.
Following a brief interaction between Rock and Theory, The Great One gave the crowd what they wanted as he and McAfee laid out Theory to stand tall.
