The Hardys are once again the TNA Tag Team Champions, but the celebrations were cut short by one of their greatest rivals.
Competing in the penultimate match of TNA Slammiversary, Matt and Jeff defeated reigning champions The Nemeth Brothers, Fir$t Cla$$ and The Rascalz in a 4-way ladder match to capture the titles for the 4th time in their careers. The closing moments of the match saw all the ladders being destroyed, meaning that there was no way to grab the titles. Jeff Hardy then escaped the ring and pressed a switch to drop a rope ladder from the ceiling. The Hardys then attacked The Nemeths, allowing Jeff a clear path to grab the titles using the improvised ladder.
As Matt and Jeff celebrated, Bully Ray interrupted. The Hall of Famer congratulated the brothers on their victory and spoke about their history together in wrestling. After the fans chanted for D-Von, Bully Ray issued the challenge of The Hardys vs. Team 3D one final time at Bound For Glory in October.
Along with Edge and Christian, The Hardys and Team 3D are regarded as 3 of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history due to their TLC matches at the start of the millennium and their wars over the Tag Team Championships in WWE. Team 3D previously reunited at Impact 1000, where they were victorious over The Desi Hit Squad.
When Did The Hardys Last Wrestle Team 3D In TNA?
The last time the 2 legendary teams faced off in TNA was back in 2014, which saw The Hardys and Team 3D be part of a Full Metal Mayhem match with Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards of The Wolves. The 2 teams were also part of a 4-way tag team match for House of Glory in 2016, which was their most recent match together.
