Seth Rollins will be taking an extended absence from WWE.
Competing twice at WrestleMania 40, Rollins suffered defeat in both matches. Beginning with his loss in the main event of night one, which saw Rollins and Rhodes lose to Roman Reigns and The Rock to set up Bloodline Rules on night 2, Rollins wrestled for a second time in the opening match of WrestleMania Sunday. Despite competing valiantly, Rollins would ultimately see his World Heavyweight Championship reign brought to an end as he was defeated by Drew McIntyre.
At one point it looked to be very touch and go in regards to whether of not Rollins would be able to make it to WrestleMania after he suffered an injury on the January 15th episode of Raw in his defence against Jinder Mahal. Cleared just before the event, Rollins competed in his first televised match on April 1st, the final Raw before WrestleMania 40 after previously competing in a few live events in the days prior. Although injured, Rollins continued to make appearances on TV to further the storylines in respect to his own rivalry with McIntyre and his involvement in the Cody Rhodes story.
Seth Rollins Seemingly Injured Again
While discussing the former World Champion on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Rollins is taking some time off for injury and is expected to be back in the near future:
“Seth’s taking time off for injury, I don’t know about Becky. “I heard not that long, but it’s the knee thing, he’s got to rest the knee up for a little while.”
H/t to WrestleTalk.
Fightful Select also confirmed that Rollins is expected to take some time off. Neither Rollins nor Becky Lynch was listed on the Raw rundown for the April 8th broadcast.
