Saraya Provides Update On Plans To Return To Wrestling

Former AEW star Saraya, who also had a successful run in WWE as Paige, has given some insight on when she plans to return to the ring.

The British wrestler announced she was leaving All Elite Wrestling in October 2024 to focus on other projects, which included the release of her Hell in Boots autobiography and the launch of her new podcast Rulebreakers.

Following the announcement that Saraya was leaving AEW, fans immediately speculated that she would join the likes of Cody Rhodes, Rusev and Aleister Black as former AEW stars making their return to WWE. However, at the time of writing, the former Women’s Champion has yet to make an appearance for a major promotion.

While speaking with The Toronto SunSaraya stated that while has enjoyed pursuing other projects, but is starting to miss being inside the squared circle:

“I’ve had a wonderful year to kind of dip my toe into the outside of [the] wrestling world, and it’s been so wonderful and I have loved it and I have enjoyed it,” Saraya said. “But I do—once you’re a wrestler, you always miss it….I am starting to get the bug for it again, because I went through a stage where I kind of like fell out of love with it for a second. And I’m just like, ‘I need to take a break from it.’ And that was the whole goal.”

Saraya Looking To Return To Training In 2026

Continuing, the Norwich-born wrestler added that she has found her love of wrestling again, and that she plans to get back into training in January 2026, noting that he wants to be at peak performance if there are plans to return:

“But I’ve just found this new love for it again, and I found this new passion for it again,” she stated. “And I’m gonna get into training in January and we’ll see where that takes me. Because I feel like I do—if I was to ever come back, not saying I am, but if I was to ever come back, I want to be at the top of my game and be wrestling better than I was wrestling back when I was in NXT. So that’s my goal.”

Saraya spoke in March about a possible WWE return.

Following a lengthy career in WWE, which famously saw her win the Divas Championship the night after WrestleMania 30, Paige went on to have one more reign with the title and remained an active performer until being forced to retire in 2018, but remained as an onscreen authority figure and manager.

After leaving WWE in June 2022, Saraya made her surprise AEW debut at Grand Slam later that year. After announcing that she had been cleared to compete once again, the British wrestler competed regularly in the company, and won the Women’s Championship at All In 2023 in front of a packed Wembley Stadium crowd, which included her family in the front row.

Saraya’s life and career was also famously adapted into the movie Fighting With My Family, which sees Florence Pugh play the lead role.
