Saraya Addresses Possible Return To WWE

Former AEW Women's Champion Saraya has spoken out regarding a possible return to WWE and if he would keep her name if it were to happen.

Former AEW Women’s Champion Saraya has spoken out regarding a possible return to WWE and if he would keep her name if it were to happen.

Earlier in the week, the British wrestler made the announcement that her time with All Elite Wrestling had come to an end, adding that it was mutual and that there is no bad blood between either side. While Saraya did note on her new podcast that she would be taking a lot of time away from the ring to focus on the new project, there has been heavy speculation that the former Paige could return to WWE for one more run after previously announcing her retirement back in 2018.

Speaking with B4 The Bell, the former Women’s Champion was asked about the possible return:

“You know what, this came up so much at my signing yesterday. I didn’t realize, I always have this insecurity I guess where I feel like people just don’t give a crap about me [laughs], and I have to be reminded of it all the time. I really do. I really do. But I get so many people wondering if I’m gonna go back there. I’m just like, I don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe if there’s something cool that comes along and they would want me back there. Maybe. Who knows? Who knows what the future holds? Never say never,”

Saraya Or Paige?

When asked about how she would want to be presented in WWE, the British star made it clear that it would be as Paige with the exact same presentation as her time in the company:

“Paige. Paige. Paige, I felt like I could leave that character at the door. I love being Saraya, and I love that people know me as Saraya and stuff like that. With Paige though, I felt like I built such a special thing with her, and then when I got home, I didn’t have to be her anymore. But I loved who I built with her. She was a badass. I loved being her, and she has built my life. I got a movie made about Paige. A lot of my career is built on that character, and people love that character, and that’s the one that kind of stood out compared to everybody else. She has a special place in my heart. If I was to go back, Paige in a heartbeat. Same music, Paige, everything.”

Saraya’s last match in WWE took place at a house show in 2017, which was stopped due to injury as the former Women’s Champion took a kick to the back from Sasha Banks [Mercedes Mone]. In multiple interviews since, the former AEW star has made it clear that it was an accident and that there is no ill will.

During her time in AEW, Saraya won the Women’s Championship at All In, which took place at Wembley Stadium in London.
