Former WWE star Ridge Holland has shared a concerning update as he reaches the end of his contract with the company, which is not set to be renewed.
Holland was informed in October that his contract would not be renewed when it expires on November 14. Although the 37-year-old will become a free agent at that point, he is not currently able to wrestle as he suffered a Lisfranc injury in a match against Moose during a TNA taping on September 27. Holland has had surgery, but could be out of action until mid 2026 at the earliest, meaning that he is unable to take bookings and compete for other promotions.
On November 4, Holland posted the following statement to social media, stating that he had been “hung out to dry” by the situation:
I never thought I’d not be able to pay my mortgage.
I feel like I’ve just been hung out to dry after getting injured working for another company on behalf of WWE. Add to that my contract not being renewed knowing that I wouldn’t be able to wrestle for 7 months. This is brutal.
Yes they are taking care of the surgery and physical therapy but let’s be honest, that’s the bare minimum after what we sacrifice for the company.
Plus the possibility of having to get my neck fused too.
Talk about getting totally f*cked.
Holland also posted about his situation the previous month, once again speaking about his time away from the ring and how he will struggle to support his family:
“WWE are still going to cover my rehab from injury but my guaranteed pay will end, quite frustrating to say the least as I cannot work for another 6 months due to the aforementioned injury, with a family of 5 to support.”
Ridge Holland Approaching End Of Time In WWE
During his time on the main roster, Holland was best known for his time with Sheamus and Pete Dunne as part of The Brawling Brutes faction. Unfortunately, in 2022, Holland also caused Big E to suffer a broken neck after delivering an overhead suplex to the former World Champion on the outside of the ring. More than 3 years later, Big E is yet to make a return to the ring, and looks to have called time on his in-ring career. It should also be noted that Big E has stated in interviews that he holds no ill will towards Holland over what happened.
Holland also had a brief run in NXT before suffering the injury at the TNA show, which saw him have multiple title matches on the developmental brand.
