Pat McAfee has been away from the WWE announce desk for 5 consecutive weeks, and it appears that he won’t be making an immediate return in the near future.
Previously a regular fixture on Monday Night Raw, McAfee’s first absence occurred on the June 9 episode of the Netflix show. Since then, Wade Barrett and Corey Graves have been filling in to provide colour commentary alongside lead announcer Michael Cole. With McAfee’s commentary style not being to everyone’s tastes, something that McAfee has referenced in the past, the change has been welcomed by some fans.
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show in late June, the Raw announcer stated that he was exhausted from pulling double duty as part of ESPN’s College Gameday and WWE broadcasts, thanking the pro wrestling company for their understanding and letting him take time away.
The latest update is that McAfee’s schedule has increased further, as he will be broadcasting his show live from the Coca-Cola Roxy near Truist Park in Atlanta as part of MLB’s Home Run Derby events. Additionally, the 2025-2026 College Football season is set to kick off in the next couple of months, meaning that the pre-season shows and build-up is set to begin shortly. With these additional shows on top of McAfee’s personal commitments, it remains unknown when McAfee will make his return to the Monday Night Raw desk. However, there is the possibility that McAfee could make sporadic returns at select Premium Live Events like he previously did in 2024.
Pat McAfee Recently Competed In WWE Match
Following the events that took place at WrestleMania 41, which saw Jey Uso defeat Gunther to become the new World Heavyweight Champion, an irate Gunther took out his frustrations on McAfee, leading to a match between the 2 at Backlash. As many suspected, The Ring General defeated the commentator at the show.
