Announcer Pat McAfee has given fans an update on a possible WWE return as WrestleMania approaches.
McAfee has yet to make an appearance on WWE TV in 2026 as either a wrestler or a commentator. Given that the biggest show on the company’s calendar is fast approaching, there is a chance that the former NFL punter could make another return to TV as part of Mania. However, according to McAfee, don’t expect so see him make a return anytime soon.
Answering the question on his Instagram story, McAfee noted that while anything is possible, it does not feel like it will be happening anytime soon:
“Will I be returning to the WWE in the future? I don’t think you ever say never, especially with WWE. But right now it does not feel like it is something is supposed to happen. Feels like that business has kind of passed me by a little bit. I grew up loving it, dreamed to work in it. Feel honored that I had the opportunity to work alongside the GOAT Michael Cole. I feel like the biz is in a good spot without me. I’ll continue to watch.”
When Did Pat McAfee Last Return To WWE?
McAfee made a surprise appearance at Wrestlepalooza back in September 2025 to join the commentary team as part of the first Premium Live Event of the ESPN era, which also took place in his hometown of Indianapolis.
McAfee’s last match took place at Backlash 2025, which saw him face Gunther after The Ring General was annoyed at losing the World Championship to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41. Gunther defeated McAfee at the PLE.
