No WWE NXT Show Expected Over SummerSlam Weekend

No WWE NXT Show Expected Over SummerSlam Weekend

WWE NXT will not have a presence over SummerSlam weekend, as no shows are currently scheduled to take place in line with the Biggest Party of the Summer.

For the first time in WWE history and what appears to be the new norm moving forward, SummerSlam will join WrestleMania as an annual 2-night event. The upcoming Premium Live Event will take over MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 2nd and 3rd and is billed as one of the biggest shows of the year after WrestleMania, with most seeing it as important as the Royal Rumble.

As has been seen in the past, NXT will host its own show over the weekend to capitalise on the footfall in the city. While the Black and Gold era of the brand saw TakeOvers occur over SummerSlam, NXT now presents standalone shows such as Stand & Deliver over WrestleMania weekend along wth Battleground the night after Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Discussing NXT’s involvement in the show on WrestleVotes Radioit was noted that the developmental brand will not be in New Jersey for the Biggest Party of the Summer as their own PLE will be taking place at the end of August:

“Yes, there is info on that. That’s a great question to start off with. No, they will not be doing anything tied into SummerSlam weekend as of now. They do have their own event—it will be taking place at the end of August and we’re looking to nail down the date and location for that—but no, it will not be tied into SummerSlam weekend.”

What Happened At SummerSlam 2024?

The main event of the 2024 show saw Cody Rhodes defend the Undisputed Championship against Solo Sikoa. The match notably saw the return of Roman Reigns, who attacked Sikoa and allowed Rhodes to capitalise and retain the title.
