Nick Aldis Makes Return To The Ring With Oasis Anthem As Entrance Theme

Nick Aldis finally made his WWE in-ring debut at SummerSlam, and an Oasis classic made things that much sweeter.

Aldis faced Gunther on night one of the show in what was his first match since signing with the company. On top of having The National Treasure gear, Aldis walked to the ring with “Morning Glory” by Oasis blasting out of U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota. Fellow Brit and commentator Wade Barrett was ecstatic at hearing the music, saying that it was the dream of every English wrestler to make their entrance to an Oasis song.

The match itself saw Aldis hit his big moves while also paying homage to Davey Boy Smith with a running powerslam. Aldis also locked in his signature Kings Lynn Cloverleaf, but Gunther made it to the bottom rope.

While Aldis was in great shape and looked like he hadn’t lost a step in the ring, he was ultimately no match for The Ring General. Gunther locked in the sleeper, forcing Aldis to tap out. Aldis’ wife Mickie James and their son Donovon joined Aldis in the ring after the match.

Aldis made his onscreen debut in October 2023 as the SmackDown General Manager. After being provoked repeatedly by Gunther, Aldis had enough and fought back, leading to the SummerSlam match. In the post-show, Aldis attempted to hand in his resignation as SmackDown GM, but Triple H rejected it.

Triple H Says Nick Aldis Using Oasis Was Locked In A Few Days Ago

With WWE having the in-house composers Def Rebel, it is rare that the company uses licensed music for wrestlers. Speaking on the post-show, Triple H explained how the theme came together:

“A couple of weeks ago, we were talking about music, and I was like, ‘Give me your fantasy. What’s the biggest fantasy?’ He said, ‘What about Oasis?’ ‘Maybe. Let’s see. Meanwhile, let’s work on something else.’ I was thrilled a few days ago to tell him that Oasis was in.”
