The Minnesota takeover began on August 1 as WWE SummerSlam 2026 presented Night 1 from the U.S. Bank Stadium.
Looking to bring their rivalry to an end, Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi faced off for the third time. With both men each having a victory over the other, The Ruler and The Beast were locked inside Hell in a Cell to see who really is the better man. Additionally, CM Punk faced Cody Rhodes with the WWE Championship on the line. Although things were amicable with both men at first, things have gotten a lot more personal in the lead-up to the show.
After defeating Liv Morgan to win the Queen of the Ring tournament, IYO SKY faced Morgan again, this time with the Women’s World Championship on the line. Although Morgan won the title back at WrestleMania, this was her first televised championship defence.
