Multiple title changes took place at the WWE NXT New Year’s Evil special on Tuesday, January 7th.
Continuing the strong momentum from the newsworthy debut episode of Raw on Netflix, New Year’s Evil saw the top 2 championships change hands to kick off the new year in style. In the opening match of the show, Giulia defeated Roxanne Perez to become the new NXT Women’s Champion and bringing to an end Perez’s reign at 274 days. The finish of the match saw Giulia hit a second Northern Lights Bomb to win the match and the championship following Cora Jade being rejected from ringside after previously interfering in the match. Giulia previously challenged Perez for the title on the NXT on CW premiere back in October 2024 but was unsuccessful.
Later in the night, Oba Femi defeated Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe in a triple threat match to become the new NXT Champion and end Williams’s reign at 93 days. Femi hit the pop up powerbomb onto Williams to win the match and the championship.
With Perez and Williams each losing their respective championships, there is a strong chance that they could feature in the Royal Rumble as part of a main roster call up.
