WWE Raw officially began the Netflix era on January 6th.
Announced at the start of 2024, the first WWE Raw of the year would bring to an end the traditional broadcast format on network TV as the show is now a worldwide streaming property on Netflix. Looking to kick off the new era with a bang, the show advertised multiple big matches ahead of time including CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa in Tribal Combat to determine who is the true Tribal Chief in WWE. Additionally, John Cena made his return to WWE to kick off his retirement tour that will culminate in December 2025.
Reuniting as part of the Netflix era, Michael Cole and Pat McAfee are once again the announce team for Raw and will be until further notice.
Over 17,000 fans were in attendance for the show
The Following Results Took Place On The WWE Raw On Netflix Premiere:
- Michael Cole introduced the premiere show with shots in the arena and shots of stars arriving in the venue
- The cold open that was seen earlier in the day played before cutting to Triple H appearing live in the ring and hyped up the fans before pyro went off
- The Rock appeared live to a thunderous ovation from the fans. Rock thanked Netflix, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in a promo that did not feel like a continuation of his Final Boss storyline from 2024
- Roman Reigns defeated Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat match filled with interference from both sides. After the match The Rock presented the Ula Fala to Reigns and acknowledged The OTC
- John Cena appeared live and made his intentions clear. Cena will be an entrant in the Royal Rumble match and is looking to win his 17th World Championship
- Rhea Ripley defeated Liv Morgan to become the new Women’s World Champion. After the match, Ripley received an endorsement from The Undertaker
- Jey Uso defeated Drew McIntyre
- Hulk Hogan appeared live and got booed out of the building
- CM Punk defeated Seth Rollins
