MJF Reaches One Year As AEW World Champion

MJF

MJF makes history once again.

On November 19th 2022, MJF defeated Jon Moxley at Full Gear to become the AEW World Champion for the first time in his career.

365 days and 10 title defences later and The Devil still remains at the top of the AEW roster, holding the championship for a full year.

MJF had already overtaken Kenny Omega’s previous record to become the longest-reigning champion in company history, but no one had ever held the championship for one whole year.

The history making achievement came at Full Gear 2023 when MJF defeated Jay White in the main event against all odds following the events that took place at the pre-show. Following MJF and substitute partner Samoa Joe defeating The Gunns in the kick-off show, The Gunns would assault MJF after the bell and target his leg.

White would attempt to claim the victory by default but Adam Cole would intervene, stating that he would fill in for MJF despite being on crutches. Just as the bell was about to ring MJF returned in an ambulance and would go on to defeat White despite heavy interference and being struck with the title.
