AEW presented Full Gear live from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, CA.
The show opened recapping the pre-show where MJF was attacked and stretchered out of the arena following an attack by The Gunns. Cole stated that he would take MJF’s place despite not being cleared and still on crutches.
Sting, Darby Allin and Adam Copeland defeated Christian Cage, Nick Wayne and Luchasaurus – Ric Flair was at ringside. The crowd were very hot for Stimg and co. The faces started strong until Allin and Luchasaurus were in the ring. Allin got slammed onto the apron for a nasty looking bump. It was mentioned multiple times that Allin will be climbing Mount Everest soon. Cage crawled under the ring to prevent the hot tag. Copeland tagged in and ran wild. Sting did his obligatory dive to a good pop. Flair struck Cage but there was no DQ called. Cage low blowed Flair. Cage tried to hit Copeland with the title but hit Luchasaurus by accident. Luchasaurus was hit with multiple finishers to get the win for Sting and co – ***½
Orange Cassidy defeated Jon Moxley – A brawl started on the outside before the physicality made its way into the ring. Mox continued the stiff strikes and even bites to take control. Moxley bled and was hit with a diving DDT but kicked out at 1. The wrestlers made their way to the outside again and Cassidy dove the outside multiple times. The turnbuckle came loose and Mox hit a pile driver but Cassidy kicked out. Moxley hit the exposed turnbuckle multiple times. 6 orange punches and a beach break won the match. Too many finishers – ***
Toni Storm defeated Hikaru Shida – Storm ripped up the script to start the match. Shida took control early with chops and Storm retaliated. Storm spoke with Luther who sneaked a show to Storm, who struck Shida. This only got a 2 count. Storm hit a hip attack with a tray in her pants to win. Of course she did – **
Ricky Starks and Big Bill defeated FTR, Los Faccion Ingobernable and Kings of the Black Throne – The champions were taken out early with multiple pairs going on to fight in the ring. The suplex to the outside to take everyone out spot took place. Big Bill and Brady King faced off to get a “meat” chant from the crowd. Ladders came into play. More big moves followed including a pile driver onto a ladder and Starks delivering a tightrope dive. Multiple ladders were set up with multiple attempts to grab the titles. Starks would eventually climb the ladder to win the match – ***1/2
Julia Hart defeated Kris Statlander and Skye Blue – Both challengers targeted the champion, making it clear they were working together before attacking each other. Statlander got back involved and broke up a Hart pin attempt. Skye Blue hit the code blue for a near fall. Statlander hit Saturday Night Fever but Hart stole the victory and the title – **½
Swerve Strickland defeated Adam Page – Page stormed to the ring and hit a Buckshot Lariat right at the opening bell. Tape then came into play as Page bound Strickland’s hands. A staple gun then came into play. Following multiple uncomfortable shots a barbed wire chair was nearly utilised but Strickland hit a low blow. More barbed wire was then used as Strickland brought out the cinder block and drove Page into it. Barbed wire was used again, wrapped around the body of Strickland. Page hit a moonsault while holding onto the barbed wire chair. Page hit a tombstone onto the barbed wire chair. Page got hit with the chair and barbed wire got caught on his face. Strickland put broken glass on Page’s back and hit a 450 and driver. Just when you thought you saw it all a barbed wire board was brought in. Both men went through the barbed wire with Strickland being driven in again and again. Brian Cage stormed the ring and attacked Page but was taken out. Prince Nana got involved and was driven through a table. Strickland shattered a cinder block over Page and choked him out with a chain to win the match – ****
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega defeated The Young Bucks – Omega started the match and got the best of The Bucks. Jericho was tagged in and The Bucks took control. Omega was tagged back in and started to turn the momentum. Nick Jackson hit a low blow as the referee was distracted, then one for Omega too. Jericho was hit with a Judas Effect but it was broken up. Omega was hit with a One Winged Angel but also kicked out. The match ended with Omega pinning Matt Jackson with the One Winged Angel – ***
MJF defeated Jay White – Adam Cole limped to the ring as Jay White made his entrance with the stolen title. An ambulance drove to the ring to signal MJF was back. MJF limped to the ring and the originally advertised match was on. White took control and dumped MJF to the outside as The Gunns took cheap shots. The Gunns were eventually caught and ejected. MJF hit the kangaroo kick but sold the leg. White took control again. White was placed on the announce table that then collapsed. MJF still climbed to the top and dove to the outside. MJF would go on to hit a Tombstone and an over the top rope cutter. White locked a figure 4 onto MJF but MJF reversed the pressure. White struck MJF with the ROH Tag Title but MJF kicked out. The ref was bumped and White stole the diamond ring. MJF hit a low blow and used the diamond ring himself to get the 3 count – ****
