MJF is set to become the longest-reigning AEW World Champion in history.
As seen on the October 28th episode of AEW Collision, MJF defeated the man who currently holds the record for a few more days, Kenny Omega.
Don Callis attempted to provide interference but was ejected from ringside quickly. MJF retained the championship after hitting a Panama Sunrise and Heatseeker to pin Omega.
After the match, multiple wrestlers were seen backstage including Samoa Joe, Wardlow and Powerhouse Hobbs, all of which want to be next in line to face The Devil. MJF would then shake Omega’s hand to show respect to the challenger as the show went off the air.
With the current reign at 344 days, MJF will break the record on October 31st.
MJF won the championship at Full Gear 2022, defeating Jon Moxley thanks to interference from William Regal. MJF’s next championship defence will be at Full Gear against Jay White.
