Matt Hardy Clarifies Rules For NXT Halloween Havoc Match

TNA star and one-half of the NXT Tag Team Champions, Matt Hardy, has given some more insight into what fans can expect at Halloween Havoc on October 25.

In a rematch from the NXT vs. TNA ShowDown special, The Hardys will put the NXT Tag Titles on the line against DarkState. On the go-home episode of NXT, Matt and Jeff were seen walking into the Lake of Reincarnation, later emerging with their broken personas that were popularised in TNA.

The upcoming match was later announced to be contested under “Broken Rules”, prompting fans to speculate that the match would be similar to The Final Deletion, the viral cinematic match that divided opinions when it first aired.

When asked about the upcoming match on his Extreme Life podcast, Hardy stated that the Broken Rules Match will be one where there are essentially no rules:

“A Broken Rules Match is basically a match with no rules. Anything goes, anything can be used, we can fight all over the building. The standard rules in a pro wrestling match are broken,”

Hardy was then asked about the presentation, to which the veteran responded that it would be contested in the arena as opposed to being a cinematic match:

“It’s going to be a real match in the arena.”

Matt Hardy And Jeff Hardy Look To Leave NXT Halloween Havoc Still The Champions

The Hardys are currently in their first reign as NXT Tag Team Champions following the victory over DarkState. The legendary duo successfully defended the tag titles against The Dudleys at TNA Bound For Glory in what was also Bubba Ray and D-Von’s final match. Following the conclusion of the match, Team 3D gave their boots to The Hardys, signalling that their time in the ring had come to an end.
