Line-Up Announced For May 8 WWE SmackDown

A title match, the final build to Backlash and more have been announced for the May 8 episode of WWE SmackDown.

On April 24, Tiffany Stratton defeated Giulia to capture the Women’s United States Championship for the first time in her career. One week later, Stratton was confronted by Kiana James, who demanded that Stratton give Giulia another opportunity. Instead, Stratton offered the title match to James.

Also on the May 1 SmackDown, Jacy Jayne picked up the win over Charlotte Flair. After the match, Fatal Influence attacked Flair and Alexa Bliss until Rhea Ripley made the save. It was later announced that Ripley would team with her former rival and Bliss to take on Fatal Influence next week.

After picking up the win over Ricky Saints, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was attacked by Gunther, who has made it clear he wants the gold. The Ring General is scheduled to appear live on the next episode of SmackDown.

As this will be the final show before Backlash, expect to see the build to the 5 matches take place. On the SmackDown side, The Miz and Kit Wilson will face Danhausen and a mystery partner. Additionally, Trick Williams will defend the US Championship against Sami Zayn.

WWE SmackDown May 8 Line-Up:

  • Gunther to appear

  • Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid) – Six-Woman tag match
