Kevin Knight Spent Night In Hospital With Steven Borden Following All Out Injury

Kevin Knight has recalled the aftermath of a scary spot involving Steven Borden at the AEW All Out pay-per-view.

Borden, who is the son of Sting, teamed with Darby Allin to take on Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher at the September pay-per-view. Unfortunately, the match ended via referee stoppage when Knight and Borden collided in mid air and both went crashing onto the mat. The match was called off due to concerns for Borden’s safety.

Speaking with Shounak Chakrabarti of ClutchPoints ahead of WrestleDream, Knight recalled checking on Borden immediately after the spot. The former TNT Champion added that he spent the night in the hospital with the second-generation star and is excited to see what the future holds for Borden:

“As a human, it was just checking on him, making sure he’s okay. Obviously, you never want things like that to happen in your own match, especially when you’re involved with it. So it was just making sure that he’s okay. You know, I spent the night at the hospital with him. He was perfectly fine. It was just a scary bump, a scary risk. But yeah, it was not an ideal situation. But we’re gonna bounce back from it, and you know I’m excited to see what Steve has to offer more, you know, come into the future. Pretty sure he’s gonna bounce back.”

Knight added that he talked through the spot with Borden, and put the spot down to “a freak accident”:

“We talked about it and everything. We walked it through. But, just like I said, just with anything, stepping through the ropes, walking on the stairs, hitting the ropes, taking any kind of bump, you’re risking your life anytime you’re doing any of those things. So it was just a freak accident, and Steve is a trooper, so I’m sure he’ll come back better than ever.”

“It Sucks That It Happened”: Kevin Knight On Steven Borden Injury

Closing out his recollection, Knight stated that he and Borden were discussing how they could make the tragedy into an opportunity. The AEW star also said that it was the nature of the business and something they will both learn from:

“I was in the hospital room with him all night, and we were having conversations, talking, you know, just how we’re gonna piggyback off of this and how we can make a situation out of this. How can we, you know, see the opportunity in this tragedy type of thing? So it was obvious in this business: things happen, and it sucks that it happened, but you just have to pivot and learn from them and grow.”

Knight will team with Fletcher again at WrestleDream to challenge The Young Bucks for the Tag Team Championships. Borden’s next match has not been announced at this time.
