John Cena Names His Favourite WrestleMania Main Events

John Cena has named his picks for some of the greatest main events in WrestleMania history.

Having appeared at The Show of Shows many times throughout his pro wrestling career, Cena won his 1st and 17th WWE Championship at Mania, and has also headlined the event multiple times.

With more than 4 decades of main events to choose from, Cena was asked by Sports Illustrated what is the greatest Mania main event of all time. Unable to pick out a definitive winner, Cena chose 3 matches that mean a lot to him, including one that he was a part of:

“Oh, I think that’s such an objective question, man. Now we have so many main events, so many matches that are qualified as main event. I think the one that changed the game for me was WrestleMania III. Rock vs. Hogan in Toronto was very special. Me and DJ [The Rock] in Miami is personally special to me. Who knows what’s going to happen this weekend? I don’t know, man. That’s an objective question. I have my favourites. You heard a few of my favourites. That’s where I’m gonna stay.”

The WrestleMania III match between Hulk Hogan and Andre The Giant was recently honoured at the 2026 Hall of Fame ceremony as it received the Immortal Moment Award. Jimmy Hart, Hulk Hogan’s son Nick and Andre The Giant’s daughter, Robin Christensen-Roussimoff

John Cena Set To Return To WrestleMania 42 For Second Night

Although Cena retired from in-ring competition in December 2025 at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the Hollywood star made his WWE return at WrestleMania 42 as the host of the Premium Live Event. Along with announcing the attendance for night 1, Cena was in the ring when Bianca Belair made her return and announced that she was expecting her first child with Montez Ford.

Cena will return to WrestleMania to host night 2 of the show.
