John Cena made another appearance on WWE TV, this time to reveal who would be taking part in the Iron Survivor Challenge matches at NXT Deadline on December 6.
Appearing via video during week 2 of Gold Rush, which was pre-taped ahead of time due to the Thanksgiving holidays, Cena made his selections for the unique match that will return for the 4th consecutive year. On the men’s side, 4 NXT stars were selected, along with TNA star Leon Slater:
- Je’Von Evans
- Leon Slater [TNA X Division Champion]
- Joe Hendry
- Dion Lennox
- Myles Borne
On the women’s side, Cena selected 4 NXT stars and the reigning WWE Women’s Evolve Champion, Kendal Grey:
- Sol Ruca
- Lola Vice
- Kelani Jordan
- Jordynne Grace
- Kendal Grey [WWE Evolve Women’s Champion]
The Iron Survivor Challenge is a 25-minute match that features five wrestlers. The first two wrestlers start the match, and every five minutes, another wrestler enters, with the objective being to score the most points within the time limit. Points are earned by scoring a pinfall, submission, or being the victim of a disqualification. A wrestler who is on the losing end of the decision goes into a penalty box for 90 seconds. The wrestler with the most points when the time expires is deemed the winner, and earns a future opportunity at their respective NXT Championship. Last year’s winners, Giulia and Oba Femi, each won the top titles on the brand following their Iron Survivor Challenge victories.
John Cena Makes 2 Matches Official For NXT Deadline
Following Cena’s announcement, 3 matches are now official for the last Premium Live Event of the year. The updated line-up for the show is as follows:
- NXT Championship: Ricky Saints defends against Oba Femi
- Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge: Je’Von Evans vs. Leon Slater vs. Joe Hendry vs. Dion Lennox vs. Myles Borne
- Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge: participants Sol Ruca vs. Lola Vice vs. Kelani Jordan vs. Jordynne Grace vs. Kendal Grey
