Jim Ross Recovering At Home Following Cancer Surgery

AEW announcer Jim Ross is back at home after undergoing surgery for colon cancer in late May.

Posting the update on social media, Ross stated that he had made it home and is trying to kick out as he begins his recovery from the procedure:

Made it home from the hospital but feeling rugged. Need to kick out. I’m trying.

The Hall of Famer underwent surgery on May 27th after informing fans that he had been diagnosed with cancer. Both Ross and his podcast co-host Conrad Thompson provided positive updates over the next few days, stating that the surgery had been a success.

Jim Ross Looking To Slow Down But Not Retire

One of the first signings to All Elite Wrestling, Ross has called the action for some of the biggest matches in the promotion’s history. Due to previous health issues, the legendary announcer has been on a reduced schedule over the past year, which has seen Ross predominantly announce the final matches at pay-per-view events.

While speaking on his podcast before undergoing surgery, Ross stated that he did not plan on retiring from wrestling but is looking to slow things down:

“This is crazy, on the eve of hours before my surgery, but it’s crazy to say I don’t plan on retiring. I plan on getting healthy, getting well, and coming back and doing something for somebody, and we’ll see how that works out.”

“I’m learning a lot about things. I’m learning a lot about my body and about what it has and it’s like an old car… I’m trying to still drive it and run it and that’s maybe one of my issues is the old car has run too long, too hard. So I’m thinking I really slow down after the surgery. Talk to the doctor… I’ll try to really slow down when this is over. Make a few autograph appearances, which I love to do, and see what Tony Khan’s got ready for me for AEW.

Ross also remained optimistic that he woudl be able to appear at All In: texas in July:

“Hell yeah, I think so (I could be at All In Texas). Why not? Why not? The convalescent — time to recover is not long. There’s soreness and things like that that affect it… But I think I’ll be up and able to go in a couple of weeks.”

Features of Wrestling sends best wishes to Jim Ross as he begins his recovery.
