Jim Ross has just over a month left on his current deal.
Ross has been open about the fact that his contract is set to expire soon and hopes that he is able to negotiate a new deal with Tony Khan. While some reports have stated that Ross may already be a free agent, the AEW announcer has shed some light on things.
Speaking on Grilling JR, co-host Conrad Thompson asked if February 14th was the date that his deal is up, to which Ross said it was. Additionally, Ross hopes that he is able to work out an agreement so he can call Sting’s final match, which will take place on March 3rd at AEW Revolution:
“I mentioned that to Tony Khan last night. He agreed. It’s only right. It makes sense.
How can I say this without sounding like a turd? I think there’s money in Schiavone and I working together. Not just in Greensboro, but going forward, sporadically. And we have great chemistry, we’ve never lost that.
If he and I are doing the match with Sting and company… I believe it’s the right thing to do.
I need to get signed up so I can be there.”
Jim Ross Hopes To Continue Working With AEW
One of the first announcers to sign with the promotion, Ross has been very pleased with the way that AEW has treated him and has been pleased with the work he has done for the company. When discussing the final stages of his announcing career, Ross stated that he plans on finishing up his career in AEW:
“I’d like to finish up in AEW… I love working with them.”
